According to the Telegraph, the minister, who is seen as one of Labour’s rising stars, claimed £65 for a court summons for non-payment of council tax. He has agreed to pay that back.

The paper also said he claimed £2,600 for a home cinema system – but that was reduced by half by the Commons Fees Office. Mr Malik has told Sky News he plans to donate the cost to good causes in his constituency “as a gesture”.
