FARRAH Fawcett is not long dead and her long-term lover Ryan O’Neal is grieving. Perfect time, then, for the Daily Mail to release the news that he has been spotted with another woman:
The Hollywood star strolled barefoot through the surf on a Californian beach with his arm over the shoulder of the unnamed woman.
The woman is not unnamed. Over the age of a few weeks old everyone born in Western World has a name. What the Mail means is that it does not know her name and cannot be bothered to find out. Just looks at the picture. Look. Look. Look.
The picture is all the Mail has to construct a story from. It is all it needs. Now narrow your eyes, twist your lips to read the suggestive headline:

From being “unnamed” the woman is turned into a “confidante”. She offers comfort, much like hookers to do sailors. Much can be gleaned for single shot of a man walking on beach.
Only, now that you into the story and looking for salacious gossip and clacking your marmalade-coated tongue to the roof of your mouth, the Mail offers:
Ryan O’Neal is pictured today being comforted by a woman – thought to be a family member – over the death of long-time girlfriend Farrah Fawcett.
She is “thought to be a family member”; a nugget that soon turns into a young woman “believed to be a close relative”.

“Ryan O’Neill walks on a beach in daylight with his cousin as tens of family members – just out of shot – celebrate the life of Farrah Fawcett.”
