Google Censors Manchester Gay Centre

by | 4th, August 2009

canal-streetGOOGLE spies are watching you go about your daily business. But not you Manchester gays. Google will not watch the gays, at least not those in Manchester’s Canal Street.

To Google, Canal Street is not a lively gay enclave, rather a dreary backstreet. Did Google street cars, the US company’s fleet of spooks, not visit Canal Street? And if not, why not?

Phil Burke, chair of the Village Business Association, tells MEN:

“We have worked hard to turn Canal Street into a cosmopolitan area. As a result, thousands of people flock to the area throughout the year. For something like this to be posted by Google is a travesty. We want people to be able to see what Canal Street is really like.”

Accident. Oversight. Deliberate ploy?

Did the Google Goon not dare venture down Canal Street, choosing instead to pilot his spy car down Richmond Street, a narrow road with no bars or clubs? Ignore the clubs and go looking for alley dwellers, the seamier side of Canal Street, perhaps?

Google – Shhh. They’re watching…
