7516278GREAT Train Robber Ronnie Biggs has been released from prison. Justice Secretary Jack Straw says Biggs is so ill he should not be in jail.

Biggs has had three strokes, can communicate only with the aid of an alphabet board and is fed through a tube in his stomach.

The probation report tells us:

“Due to the significant decline in his health he would be highly unlikely to be able to participate in the planning or commission of further offences and I assess the risk of reoffending as low. Mr Biggs will need to reside in a placement with provision for 24-hour nursing care on release.

Anorak looks back at Biggs in pictures and crimes:

August 1963 – Biggs marks his 34th birthday by takign part in the robbery of the London to Glasgow mail train, stealing £2.6m (£50m in today’s money).
