Global Climate Activists Torch Cars

by | 11th, August 2009

car-climateSMELL that? That, dear carbon breather, is the smell of voiture a la mode, the climate activist’s call to arms. As Tim Blair notes, it’s Car-B-Cue season in La Belle Epoch and greenists are rampaging like never before:

The jeuness d’oree go vert:

Restive youths in a Paris suburb torched a tourist bus and nearly a half-dozen cars and hurled objects at police early Tuesday, a night after fullblown unrest prompted by the death of a teen fleeing police …

A night earlier, some 40 people hurled Molotov cocktails at police and firefighters, torched dozens of cars and one person fired a handgun during a rampage hours after the death of the young man.

In Sweden, the normally boxy but reliable Swedes are fanning flames:

More than ten cars were set alight in a series of arson attacks across Malmö on Sunday night …

Police have cordoned off the area and will conduct a forensic examination of the scene on Monday. CCTV pictures secured from a nearby restaurant will be examined for clues.

In hill-free Holland:

Dutch media indicate that environmentally-friendly “smart” cars, tiny two-seaters, are being picked up by roving bands of “pranksters” and tossed into the city’s canals.

According to the Dutch-language Telegraff, five of the smart cars have been thrown in the water in the past two weeks. Authorities fear the practice will spread to other locations.

In the UK, MPs are demobilised:

THE ever popular Hazel Blears is the victim of street crime as vandals smash the windscreen of her Citreon Xsara Picasso and slashs all four tyres while she knocks on doors in Cemetery Road, Weaste, Greater Manchester.

Now you’re  Ghana believe us:

The political climate in Akwatia turned sour last Friday, when two private vehicles belonging to the Constituency Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Ernest Kwame Ankrah, and the chief of Akyem Abenaso were burnt down by unknown assailants.

The Klimate Kops are in training:

Two North Tyneside schoolboys were badly injured when they poured petrol into a small toy car and it exploded.

And in Oz:

A STRABANE woman has hit out at those behind an arson attack on her jeep, set ablaze on Tuesday night.

Mena McColgan, who lives at Lisnafin Park, had just gone to bed when she heard what she thought was smashing glass.

It turned out that the family’s Rav 4 jeep had been set alight, possibly by a petrol bomb.

Climate change – what are doing to stop it?
