Prostitutes Of London: Deputy Mayor Of London, Kit Malthouse, Cleans Up The Streets
AROUND the corner from the M&S lingerie live show, Deputy Mayor of London, Kit Malthouse, is assisting the Metropolitan Police in a crackdown on the proliferation of prostitute contact cards in central London telephone boxes as part of a larger drive to end violence against women in the capital.
Police believe gangs operate protection rackets, blocking rivals from using key telephone boxes with violence and intimidation. At least 44 people have been arrested for distributing cards this year, an offence punishable with a fine or jail term.
What do you get arrested for? Answer: Littering. You used to get pinched for criminal damage, because the prostitutes’ cards were stickers and BT did you for criminal damage (don’t ask how I know, and don’t consult back copies of The Camden New Journal nor ask the former leader of the London Anarchists Movement).
