Shane Oldroyd Jailed For Stealing A Bus And Causing Mayhem: Video

by | 18th, December 2009

SHANE Oldroyd, 27, of Ossett, is not to be admired. Shane needed to get home. Shane had no money. Shane stole a single-decker Arriva bus from Wakefield bus station.

Shane is up before the Beak at Leeds Crown Court. Judge Kerry Macgill says he is guilty of “wicked, dangerous and reckless” driving.

He is jailed indefinitely to serve at least three-and-a-half years, having admitted aggravated vehicle taking and damaging a Mercedes car, and being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance, driving over the alcohol limit and failing to stop after an accident.

There’s Shane on the CCTV footage, shot from a West Yorkshire police helicopter, which took on eh villain by following the bus for almost an hour through Wakefield city centre and environs.

Oldroyd ploughed into more than 50 cars, injured two people, destroyed several walls, road signs and traffic lights and badly damaged buildings during the rampage, Leeds Crown Court was told.

The two injured were not seriously injured.

Stopped by a stinger device, Oldroyd said:

“So what? I took a bus for a nice little ride.”

As we say, Oldroyd is not to be admired. So here’s a video of the mayhem on the BBC website. Expect to see the footage on such telly shows such as “Oh, no, this is terrible – look!”, “Now watch this low-life scum go!” and “The Police do a wonderful job, really they do”…
