Chilean military and firefighters figthing a fire caused in a supermarket after looting in Concepcion, Chile. One of the largest earthquakes in history, with a magnitude of 8.8 degrees on the Richter scale, 50 times more intense than that of Haiti, left 723 people dead. The disaster ran out the patience of its inhabitants, who lined the streets to obtain supplies by looting while military forces try to keep Concepcion city under control.
