In Pictures: When The English Defence League Went To Aylesbury

DID you see The English Defence League hold a march and protest in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire? What is the purpose of these marches? With no political campaign, whatever the intent is, it has no chance of being made real. The BNP claim to stand for their version of Britain – a vision that looks not enough unlike an old German dream for these islands. Is the EDL the BNP without the foreign Nazis? Is the EDL protest a show of force born of fear? What is English and what is being defended – the right to free speech and protest? Tolerance? Democracy? If so, it’s job done. What lies at the heart of the protests?
