VENEREAL disease kills and maims the sexually active as well as the sexually inactive. Posters have long been part of the campaign to rid the planet of sexually transmitted disease. But at no time in living memory were they more prevalent than in the Second World War. The message was simple: foreign women give you and yours STDs. But – good news, lads – foreign men don’t, and neither does that chap with the full lips in your platoon…
