KYRON Horman: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at the missing boy in the news: the media is gunning for Kyron step-mother Terri Horman; armchair detectives are massing; and meet the sexually abusive uncle…

When one is not enough?

Horman…reportedly has had inconsistencies in her account of what she was doing that day.

We are not told what these alleged inconsistencies are, just that they have been reported.

Prime Writer: “Kyron Horman case update: Friends come to the support of Terri Horman as new leads are generated”

The disappearance of Kyron Horman is a mystery that has few leads. In fact, when compared to other cases, Kyron’s may have less leads than most.

Such are the facts. It gets better. Let’s go over what we don’t know:

What is interesting is that in the Kyron Horman case, no one in the family has come forwards and made an address to a potential abductor. No one has spoken into the media camera and demanded or begged for the person who has Kyron to bring him home. The family has not acknowledged publicly that Kyron Horman has been abducted. They haven’t acknowledged it and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t acknowledged it either.

So. The family has not gone through the grim and hackneyed media game. They have not entertained the masses at home. Unless you count the open letter Kyron’s mother Desiree Young has written:

I am so soooooo sorry that this has happened. I am sorry that I was not there to protect you. I will never be able to forgive myself for being so many hours away when you needed me the most. I pray that you come back to me because I am afraid that I can’t live without you. I miss you every second of every day. I would give my life for yours, I just want you back safe. You must come back to us. We have so many things that we have planned this summer that you are going to love. Quinn loves you so much and wants you home too. All of the family is here and wants you to know just how much they miss you. Mayson is terribly sad without his best friend to play with and wants you home soon.

When you come home I will show you all of the things that everyone did for you, just to find you. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people that don’t know you and yet they pray for you every night. They know how much I miss you and need you and they just want to bring you home to me. There are so many wonderful people working on this case and they are going to find you soon.

I would give anything to run my fingers through your short hair again. I miss having you to hug anytime I want. Nighttime is always hard for me. I miss you so much and want you back here so that I can protect you from all of the horrible things in this world. I just can’t believe that you aren’t still with us. Your life has been really great and I know that it is [not] done yet. A long time ago you saved my life and now I am going to do the same for you. Our lives will never be the same after this.

I love you very much!

Momma

What else do we know, or not know?

Seattle Weekly: Kristian Horman, Kyron Horman’s Uncle, Jailed for Child Molestation

As of this weekend, Kristian Horman, Kyron’s paternal uncle, started a six-month sentence in Snohomish County jail for child molestation. Last October, the 32-year-old Horman had a sleepover with a 14-year-old relative at his home in Bothell.

He groped her. She told. And Horman was convicted of third-degree child molestation.

So. Who knows more?

Fox: “Skyline Parents Return Questionnaire”

The questionnaire targeted anyone who was at Skyline School on the day Kyron vanished. It asked specific questions about Kyron’s stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, and the white pickup truck she drove that day. She has not been named as a person of interest by the sheriff’s office.

Terri Horman is not a suspect and neither is the aforementioned uncle.

Katu: “Friend of Kyron’s step-mother calls her a ‘devoted step-mother’”

Ready to be entertained?

In an interview for “Good Morning America” filmed at KATU’s Portland studio, Jaymie Finster said Terri Horman is a bit tired, wants Kyron home and is frustrated over the investigation now pointing towards her. She said Horman signed off on this interview because some of the public’s accusations and speculation on the Internet has been so damaging.

More on that:

“I want people to know that she’s a good person she’s a devoted mother. She’s been in Kyron’s life since he was three-days old…

“I think a lot of people just want to go with the information that we don’t have and try to make something of it and that’s very hurtful and hard for me to see happening.”

Yes. It’s what passes for journalism – the media no longer showing but telling.

She adds:

“Just to take some little bits of information and then fly with it is really hurtful and, you know, it’s been really hard for her to see that happening.”

The armchair detectives are at large. The voracious media is not looking – it’s waiting…
