JEFFREY York, 47, raped and imprisoned his family in Madison Township in Ohio.
York has been arrested. He faces 19 charges. He denies all of them.
Detective Dan Boerner says one of the five girls who lived on the farm lived in a tiny room and was only allowed to leave to go to the toilet.
York is charged with two counts of rape involving a girl under the age of 13, five counts of gross sexual imposition, and six counts of child endangering.
One child was allegedly locked in a small room for a year.
Seven children lived in the house with York and his wife ranging in age from 3 months to 19.
Neighbour Allan Smith then does not provide the media with one of those lines you often hear. You know, the one about the family being so nice and good. He says:
“They were the kind of people you’d say to yourself ‘one day we’re going to be sitting here talking to the news’.”
