Only Halal Meat Served At Wembley Stadium And Ascot – Except The Kosher Pork

BRITAIN has gone “halal”, declares the Daily Mail. But you didn’t know because “nobody tells public”.

Does eating halal turn you Muslim? The Mail investigates.

But it’s not an anti-Mulism story. The Mail is not Islamophobic. Oh, no. This is a story about animal cruelty because rather than being killed with a bolt to the head, a halal animal is killed by having its throat slit – “in accordance with strict Islamic law.

A Mail on Sunday investigation – which will alarm anyone concerned about animal cruelty – has revealed that schools, hospitals, pubs and famous sporting venues such as Ascot and Twickenham…

But Muslims don’t drink alcohol. So, will halal meat kill the pub trade? And don’t the French (Catholics) eat horses?

This fact is illustrated by a photo of two dressed-up race goers eating…fish and chips.

All the beef, chicken and lamb sold to fans at Wembley has secretly been prepared in accordance with sharia law, while Cheltenham College, which boasts of its ‘strong Christian ethos’, is one of several top public schools which also serves halal chicken to pupils without informing them.

Do you need to be informed? Can you taste the difference? If it says “halal” on the menu does it also have to say “killed by electronic bolt, skinned and cut to pieces with knives and high-pressured jets of water”?

A spokesman for the London hospitals admitted: ‘The only way people using the canteen would know they were eating halal chicken would be if they asked a member of staff directly.’

What say the politicians?

Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell, secretary of the Associate Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare, says:

“The vast majority of people in this country would not want meat of this origin.”

How does he know that? Has he done a survey? Does the average Briton – white, Protestant – care that their midnight kebab is halal, kosher or bolt-killed so long as it is hot and all unwanted microbes have been slaughtered by the chilli sauce?

So. The problem is not that the beat is killed by Islamic-approved methods but that the animal is not stunned before death? Which is, er, why the Mail calls Keith Porteous Wood, executive director of the National Secular Society – an expert on meat. He thunders:

“It is disgraceful that people aren’t being told if the food they are being served is from meat that has not been stunned prior to slaughter.”

The Mail concludes by saying:

More than 40 million cattle, calves and sheep and more than 850 million poultry are slaughtered every year in Britain.

You can live with that, dear meat eater, but not the news that some of these creatures might die with blood and stuff seeping out of them…
