Journalist Kneels Before Nick Clegg: Photos

by | 25th, November 2010

DID the Press Association journalist have to kneel when she interviewed Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister at Durand Academy Primary School in Stockwell, south London?

Hadn’t she heard that Clegg is now a pariah, the man who went back on his pledge to do all he could to end student fees for higher education? This is the man who failed education.

Clegg and Michael Gove were at school to champion their Education White Paper that makes it easier to sack bad teachers and makes it harder to become a teacher in the first place, thus raising the prestige of the job.

They also want to encourage people into teaching as a second job. There’s a “Troops to Teacher” programme to get skilled people into the classroom.

But there is “MPs to Classes” programme. First person to spot an MP going into teaching, let us know. They usually go for the cash and a job on the corporate letterhead…
