Blackburn Teen’s ‘Death’ Was Hoax: Thousands Of Mourners Duped On Facebook

by | 28th, February 2011

RIP Jaydon Rothwell. The Facebook page has been created to his loving memory. People who knew him, or those who like to wallow in mourn porn and add their name ot any list, have paid tribute. Over 2000 people have joined the group and paid their respects.

He was a lovely lad. He will be missed. He was victim of Broken Britain:

One local funeral director said he had been told a 16-year-old had died, possibly after being stabbed… One shop worker said a teenager had drunk himself to death while others had simply heard that a 16-year-old had killed himself.

Death by a thousand cuts. It was the “tragic death of a local boy following an overdose of mephedrone and vodka“.

Says a reader:

They’ve traced who did it and it was some strange hoax by a couple of girls…

It just goes to show how people get caught up in the lives of strangers on Facebook – more than 2000 tributes for a person who didn’t even exist.

Are we so pathetically desperate to feel that we latch on to any public bout of orchestrated grief? The girls should be ashamed. They should be given a degree in an -ology…
