The Amy Winehouse Foundation Has Got It Wrong

by | 5th, August 2011

AMY Winehouse’s Camden home is to become the new headquarters for a rehab drive in her name…maybe, says the Sun.

Anorak is hard pressed to think of a worse advert for rehab than Winehouse? Maybe Peter Doherty? Or Lindsay Lohan? Or anyone else who has passed through the revolving doors of any  number of reassuringly expensive rehab centres and re-remerged to get of their faces on a new drug or drink.

Understandable that Winehouse’s family and loved one should seek a legacy for the singer. But The Amy Winehouse Foundation would be better off overlooking the drugs and the drink that she may have enjoyed and instead fostering and managing new musical talent – keeping budding stars away from the enablers and sharks that prey on talented youth. Forget the tabloid tales of booze and binges. Forget the politicking on drugs – unless you’re campaigning to have them legalised – and and stick with the music…
