Police Replaced By Monkey Statues

by | 20th, August 2011

TO Changsa, China, where stone monkey statues have been dressed in fluorescent jackets. The idea is that they prevent traffic accidents.

The Chinese have long understood the concept of rock hard policing. First the terracotta soldiers did their bit and now the stone monkeys are called upon to maintain law and civil obedience.

Of course, the British got there first. Only last week, British police acted like statues  in Tottenham, Manchester and Birmingham – albeit with limited success.

Can monkey statues do better? England watches with interest…
