KYRON Horman – Anorak’s look at the missing Portland Oregon, child in the news…

A reader writes:

Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline Elementary School in North Portland, Oregon, on June 4, 2010.   The MCSO, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, who are in charge of the investigation, announced in June 2010 that the case would hopefully ‘be solved within a month’.  Kyron Horman has been missing now for 1 year, 9 months and 16 days!  The MCSO have yet to discover how he disappeared from that school; who took him from that school; or if he is being held alive somewhere or deceased.

The MCSO has yet to discover evidence of a crime.

The finger of suspicion was quickly pointed at his step-mother, Terri Horman, as she was the last person seen with him at the school; yet he was not seen leaving with her.  The MCSO held press conferences subtly pointing the finger of responsibility for  Kyron’s disappearance at TH; so-called ‘reliable sources’ gave heads up to newspapers for  stories adverse to TH;  the bio-parents held press conferences and appeared on nationwide news programs and talk shows pointing their finger at TH as being responsible for Kyron’s disappearance; millions of dollars have been spent on this investigation; hundreds of thousands of dollars paid in overtime.  Yet, the MSCO have never named Terri Horman a suspect.

Another reader adds:

The MCSO have not been forthcoming in giving the public an updated status on their investigation since Sheriff Staton announced on June 3, 2011 that the “Kyron Horman Task Force would disband on July 1 but will re-form if ‘something breaks’.”

Or someone:

Terri Horman is still standing trial in the media and many people in the public want answers as to exactly what is going on in this investigation and what has gone on.   What have or have not the MCSO accomplished during the ongoing investigation for the past  year and 9 months and millions of dollars later.

And:

…an interesting observation I have noticed over the PAST 3 months – neither Kaine nor Desiree (the bio-parents) have made one public statement against Terri Horman nor the Oregonian written their usual articles slanted against her.  Now keep in mind they have been non-stop ranting and raging against her since a month into the case – end of June 2010.

I found that rather strange – why the sudden change?  Well, the last divorce hearing that was scheduled for last fall the Judge postponed it upon a pleading by Terri Horman’s lawyers based on all the adverse publicity taking place against her and it would prejudice her at the Divorce Hearing, Kaine wants to divorce her.  It was rescheduled for this month!   You’ll never convince me the last 3 months of ‘let’s not say a raging word about TH in public’ was not deliberately planned so Kaine can get his divorce from her this month!

The reticence of the Multnomah Country Prosecutor and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office to look at alternative explanations a to why Kyron Horman went missing and to focus only on Terri Horman has been lamentable.

True Nelson has a few questions for the police:

  • Has the possibility of a ‘stranger abduction’ from Skyline School been eliminated?  If so, how?  If not, why not?
  • Were there any ‘strangers’ at the Science Fair that remain unidentifiable?  Why hasn’t the description of those alleged strangers been disseminated to the public?
  • Have all ‘sexual offenders’ in the general area of the school been interviewed and eliminated?
  • Is the FBI currently involved in the investigation; and, if so, in what capacity?
  • What is the extent of the current investigative efforts?  What agencies, and how many personnel are involved?
  • What is the current status of the reward offered?  What are the requirements for claiming the reward?
  • Is the finding of Kyron, either dead or alive, required before this case can progress and/or be brought to court?
  • Do you believe that it is doubtful Kyron will be found alive?
  • Do you feel that there was more than one individual involved in Kyron’s disappearance?
  • Sheriff Staton, in a past news briefing, you stated that your agency has uncovered information that ‘you wish you didn’t know.’  What is the nature of that information?
  • Sheriff Staton, in a past news briefing, you stated that the Kyron disappearance has evolved into a more ‘technical investigative focus.’  What did you mean by that?  What are those findings thus far?
  • Regarding the reported cell phone pings emanating from SauvieIsland, what was your final determination in that matter?
  • How does the civil case concerning the divorce and custody proceedings between Kaine and Terri Horman affect any criminal prosecution?
  • During a custody hearing, would Terri be required to testify?
  • If Terri does testify, will her testimony be used to explore her involvement in the criminal case?
  • Can the judge in a civil case create parameters for testimony that would not impact Terri’s protections against self-incrimination in a possible criminal trial?
  • Terri Horman has been described by her own attorneys as a ‘de facto’ suspect?  Is she or is she not designated a suspect?  Why is she not a suspect?  Why is she not a ‘person of interest?’
  • There has been talk that Kyron was to be taken to a Doctor appointment the day he disappeared?  Was there an appointment scheduled for Kyron on that day, or any other day?
  • Is the alleged murder-for-hire case, involving Terri Horman, been closed or considered unfounded; or is that case still being actively investigated?
  • Have you attempted to interview Terri Horman in the presence of her attorney?

The story of a missing child is one of inept policing, blinkered reporting and an inability to stick to the facts and to show and not tell.

The boy remains missing. The police remain without a clue.
