Pet piranha eats toddler’s fingers

TO the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, to hear from a medic:

“This is not a dog bite.”

Frank Bilecki, a spokesman for Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, adds:

“He had no fear; these were truly fatherly instincts. He grabbed a knife and cut it open and found her fingertip right there.’’

The child, aged 18 months, had dipped her fingers into the family fish tank, which contained peckish piranha fish.

The fish has been killed. But let’s not judge it too harshly. Piranhas will do as piranhas do. Spare a thought for worms, whose tough luck it is to look like juicy young toddler fingers…
