Lily Allen reports racist soldier to MoD

THINGS have been a little quieter since Lily Allen became a mother. Shame really, given that we actively need a controversial, erudite popstar about the place. Mercifully, we didn’t have to wait long before Lily got back in the saddle and started getting caught in a shitstorm.

And once more, it is a twitter scandal.

It all started when a man claiming to be a soldier serving in the British Army sent her an abusive message, which read “just seen you bought shit, I mean adopted a child from Africa.” The man in question removed the message but, alas, it was too late because it had already been reported on by NME.

Lily followed up by asking for advice on how to report racism with twitter,  saying “how do you report someone on here? That guy I re-tweeted should be banned.” She then contacted the Ministry of Defence.

An Army spokesman said: “Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the Army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination. We are aware of the alleged offensive comments and are investigating the matter. It would be inappropriate to comment further while this is ongoing.”

Since then, the singer has been RTing a number of abusive messages. One message, from @stevenallison4 read:

Harry been told the top dogs in the army want him discharged! lilyrosecooper a hope ur f*ckin happy ya coke head b*stard #harrysnotaracist

Steve Allison there, shouting abuse at a pregnant woman, there.
