IN Greece, a man has been jailed for blasphemy. His crime was to have creating satirised Orthodox monk named Elder Paisios on the Facebook page “Pastafarian”.  “Elder Pastitsios” is covered by the Center for Inquiry’s Free Thinking blog, which tells us that the offending page garnered “one hundred thousand complaints. Moreover, it came to the attention of the country’s neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party.

All this makes us gaps at the site’s creator. To cause so much offence is a rare talent. He should get his own show on Channel 4.

Our hero also Facebook produced a miracle, a news story about an incredible act performed by Elder Paisios. Many believed it. The lampooner said he made up the story “not only to expose the gullibility of the faithful, but primarily to show the poor fact-checking done by these sites”.

Elder Paisios can be studied here and here. He wrote Signs Of The Times – 666, produced in full here.
