Azhar Ahmed of West Yorkshire given community order for offensive Facebook comment

by | 9th, October 2012

ANTI-Free speech news of the day: Azhar Ahmed of W Yorkshire has been given a community order for posting an “offensive” message on Facebook after six UK soldiers died.

He wrote:

People gassin’ about the deaths of soldiers. What about the innocent families who have been brutally killed… The women who have been raped… The children who have been sliced up…! The enemy’s were the Taliban not innocent harmful familys. All soldiers should DIE and got to HELL. THE LOWLIFE FOKKIN SCUM! got a problem go and cry at your soldiers grave & wish them hell because thats is where she is going”

He was charged with racially aggravated public order offences”.

He told Huddersfield Magistrates Court he accepted the message had been “unacceptable” but said it was not “grossly offensive”.

Azhar Ahmed is rude, wrong, ignorant and an idiot who ranted from his bedroom. But is he a racist? Because Ahmed has a different colour skin to the six soldiers, he’s a racist for attacking them?

He apologised.

The State is seeking to control what you do online. The web is too important a tool to be in State control.

Remember that a police spokesperson said of the charge (via):

“He didn’t make his point very well and that is why he has landed himself in bother.”

You can get nicked for bad phrasing.

One question: why didn’t he go to prison?
