Master Pratt booted from Cub Scouts for refusing to do duty to God

by | 19th, October 2012

TO Midsomer Norton, Somerset, where 11-year-old George Pratt (yes, indeed) cannot remain a Scout. He will not take the Scout Promise – the one that trills:

On my honour, I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people
And to keep the Scout Law

Nick Pratt, George’s dad, tells local media:

“George had the guts to stand up and admit his view and I believe the Scouts are being narrow minded when we are supposed to be tolerant…”

Young master Pratt can take the oath and do as any self-respecting 11-year-old might and replace the word “God” with “Cod” – a reference to C.o.D, the popular shoot-’em-up video game. C’mon, Master Pratt. Think! Your pals are waiting for you to catch up. He really should have been better prepared…
