Mexican Jeep smugglers come undone on Arizona fence

by | 2nd, November 2012

CAN you drive from Mexico to Arizona? Yes. But watch out for the fence. US Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector’s Yuma say smugglers trying to make the crossing failed when their Jeep Cherokee became “high centred” on a ramp. Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Enrique Zarate sees a PR opportunity: “We [US Border Patrol] want to let the American public know that this isn’t the first smuggling attempt we’ve stopped, and that we are out here 24/7 making sure the American border is secure.” Spotting a Jeep 14-foot high up on a fence might not strike you as suspicious, but, then, you’re not trained. Nothing was found in the vehicle. But Zarate spoke of smugglers transporting anything from narcotics to humans.

The assumption is that these smugglers were exporting ladders and a Jeep.  (79% os  Cherokee Jeep is made in the US.)
