Bank robbers used bed sheets to escape prison cell 20 storeys above Chicago (photos)

THIS is how two felons escaped from Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center. Sometime between 5am and 8:45am, convicted bank robbers Joseph ‘Jose’ Banks, 37, and Kenneth Conley, 38,  used a knotted rope of bedsheets to escape the federal prison from a cell 20 storeys high above downtown Chicago.

But no-one saw them. The rope ladder might be a distraction. Maybe they just bribed guards and walked out the front door?

A broken window and bars were found a mattress in the men’s cell.

A $50,000 reward for information leading to their capture has been issued. Money that might be better spent on more slippery satin bedding:
