Jim Davidson: Michelle Cotton’s age, foreign rapists and Celebrity Big Brother

by | 3rd, January 2013

JIM Davidson OBE denies any wrongdoing. He’s the 10th man to be questioned by police as part of Operation Yewtree, the Met Police’s investigation into Jimmy Savile and others. Of that ten, nine men have been arrested, including Gary Glitter, Freddie Starr, Dave Lee Travis, Stuart Hall and Max Clifford.

The Sun says the man not arrested was “seized in Berkshire“. Such is the paedo panic that helping police with their enquiries now means you’ve been “seized“.

The Mail juxtaposes its front-page headline – “4,000 foreigns murderers and rapists we can’t throw out” – alongside a picture of Davidson, a Freemason and Tory fan whose repetoire features jokes about his black pal “Chalky”.

We learn:

The 59-year-old comedian is understood to have been detained at Heathrow after returning to the UK ahead of a planned appearance on reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother, which starts tonight.

All papers mention Davidson’s blog post:

“The Savile witch hunt is going a bit silly now. We all are starting to speculate and accuse … even in jest. So no, I don’t know who’s next. Everyone has had the nod. Everyone is an expert. Just pick someone you don’t like and say it’s them. As odd as he was, Savile can’t defend himself. The bloke’s dead for God’s sake. Let’s move on.”

There’s lots and lots of dirt on Savile (he’s dead and buried below dirt, soil and muck), but what’s been said about Davidson? Does it matter if we like the celeb or not?

The self-confessed alcoholic woman-beater has a habit of rubbing people up the wrong way. When he admitted abusing fourth wife Alison Holloway, her new husband Burt Kearns plotted to have Davidson kneecapped and many felt that would have improved his character.

Davidson’s solicitor Henri Brandman speaks for his client:

“Two women have made allegations in respect of Jim that date back approximately 25 years. The complainants were then in their mid-twenties…Jim vigorously denies the allegations. He answered police questions as fully as he was able after this passage of time. He has not been charged with any offence. Neither he nor I will be making any further comment.”

What do we know about Jim? The Sun says:

There was no sign of Davidson’s fifth wife Michelle, 41.

And:

Seven officers emerged from the house at 7pm carrying a plastic box and a large envelope containing potential evidence.

He’s not been charged with any offence.

The Mail says:

He has divorced four times and in 2011 married his fifth wife, Michelle Cotton, 17 years his junior.

Anorak is no maths guru, but Davidson is 59.

The Mail also looks at the police boxes emerging from Davidson’s Hampshire home:

They left the property at 7pm carrying boxes which appeared to contain plastic evidence bags and brown envelopes.

Anyhow, what about Jim’s appearance on Channel Five’s Celebrity Big Brother?

The Guardian reports:

A spokesman for Channel 5 said the broadcaster never officially commented on its lineup for Celebrity Big Brother before the launch show.

All very cloak and dagger. Until you read the Daily Express, a paper owned, like Five by Richard Desmond:

The station would not comment on his inclusion, but he had been preparing to take part in the show, which returns to screens on Thursday evening.

Such are the facts.

Some cracking photos of Davidson can be seen here.
