PAUL Merson, the former Arsenal striker, wants to tell Daily Star readers about Eamonn Dolan, the new caretaker boss at Reading.

READING will have an old friend of mine in charge at Old Trafford today – and if he wins, they should give him the job permanently. I grew up with Eamonn Dolan at Arsenal. We used to play in the youth team together and he was always staying round my parents’ house at weekends.

Really? Anorak recalls a Pat Dolan playing for Arsenal. He’s Eamonn’s taller twin brother.

The Dolans were born on 20 September 1967 in Galway, Ireland. Merson was born March 20, 1968. Pat Dolan and Paul Merson were at Arsenal together. Eamonn Dolan was a young lad with West Ham United. Says Merson:

I always knew he’d make a coach back when we were at Arsenal growing up together. He was a centre-half and it didn’t really work out for him there.

Eamon Dolan played as a striker.

PS – we can find no record of Eamonn Dolan ever having played for Arsenal. Can you?
