Amazing moment as toddler hears for the first time

by | 24th, June 2013

SHALL we all have a lovely moment? How about a really great video of a young boy called Grayson Clamp, and the exact moment he heard his father’s voice for the first time?

Grayson Clamp is three years old and until now, he’s never been able to hear.

Grayson was born without several of the nerves in human ears that allow sound to process and when a cochlear implant failed to bring back his sense of hearing, his parents turned to a trial at a hospital in North Carolina.

Doctors fitted Grayson with an auditory brain stem implant, a device that is commonly used on adults, but has never been tested on children before.

The procedure, which involved implanting a microchip in his brain, has allowed him to hear his parents’ voices for the first time. And, if you watch the video below, you’ll see the adorable moment when he finds out his ears now work.

AWWW!
