TRANSFER Balls: Today we look at Manchester City’s moves to spunk lots of cash on footballers.

So. Is Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo heading to the Etihad Stadium?

The Times says he is:

Manchester City close on £24m Álvaro Negredo to replace Carlos Tévez

Manchester City were close to a £23.8 million deal for Álvaro Negredo last night as a replacement for Carlos Tévez.

The Mail agrees. But in that paper, the star is available for £18m.

Is that enough?

The Express quickly steps in to assure worried City fans that the player is available for a reassuringly expensive £28m.

The BBC says:

Negredo, 27, is rated at around £24m but City are hoping for a cheaper deal.

And then the Guardian says City are closing in on the £20m star. Is that all? Even Arsenal are looking to spend that much on a player these days…

Morte transfer facts every day…
