Gareth Bale Balls: Spurs make Bale an offer he can’t refuse

by | 9th, July 2013

THE Daily Bale: A look at Spurs star Gareth Bale in the news. We thought the transfer talk was over when Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy apparently said the player was not for sale and Real Madrid said they were not going to bid for the player they’d been trying to tap up. The experts who said Bale was going to Madrid in early July were wrong.

But then…

The Sun: “Bale in kit hint”

The Sun says Bale modelling the news Spurs kit is a hint that he will stay.

The Guardian says this is “the clearest indication yet he will stay at Tottenham”.

But he’s not given any indication that he will leave this summer.

It’s almost as if – as if – the Press can’t let it go, unable to grasp the one clear fact: Bale plays for Spurs and the club has received no offers for him. So. We get the Daily Mail looking at Bale in his new kit and stating:

Spurs up the fight to keep Bale after using Madrid target to unveil new home kit

They up the fight by giving him his work clothes? Is that the offer Bale can’t refuse – a new kit?

And we’re told:

Bale was not allowed to speak to the national newspapers but did conduct television and magazine interviews to be broadcast closer to the start of the season. He is not anxious to leave even if he has yet to sign the improved contract Spurs are willing to offer him and his team-mates seem to be under the impression he will be with them for the season ahead.

Like, er, this interview he gave to Esquire magazine? The Mail takes the player’s reluctance to talk to it as a sign that he won’t talk to anyone.
