TRANSFER Balls: a look at the news that Arsenal have missed out on Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain. Or have they..?

This from today’s press. And do note that the Sun said Arsenal had signed Higuain for £23m.

Daily Express: “Napoli agree £30m fee with Real Madrid for Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain”

The 25-year-old is thought to prefer a move to the Emirates and is delaying discussing personal terms with the Naples club in the hope of buying time to allow Arsenal to return to the negotiating table.

So. He’s gone for £30m. Or as The Evening Standard reports:

Napoli are believed to have agreed a £31.8million deal for Higuain, which could rise by another two and a half million with add-ons.

Believed? Not by the Metro:

Gonzalo Higuain still set on Arsenal transfer as Real Madrid await improved bid

How can he be set on something that Arsenal won’t pay to make happen?

Gonzalo Higuain expects Arsenal to make an improved offer for his services later this week, with the Real Madrid striker setting his heart on the Premier League despite firm interest from Napoli.

Napoli fans must be delighted to have bought player who doesn’t want to play for them.

And then Real boss Carlos Ancelotti says:

“Higuain to Napoli a done deal? Not true, I don’t have any news about this. We still have to speak about Higuain as a Real Madrid player at this point.

“I spoke to him this week. He is a Real Madrid player and until we have news we have to consider him as a Real Madrid player and I would like him to stay with us. He is very important to us and nothing else, it is not my business to judge the price of a player.”

Such are the facts…
