Manchester City: Micah Richards can’t understand why the England he refused to play for won’t select him

MODERN football mysteries: Manchester City’s Micah Richards is superstitious:

“I’ve been stuck on 13 caps for some time now – unlucky for some! I’m not sure what the answer is. I just need to get fit and play regularly.”

Back in the summer of 2012, the Star reported:

Roy Hodgson wanted Richards on the standby list for Euro 2012 but the Manchester City defender refused…

Richards refused a call-up to the standby list, and then watched as uncapped ­Liverpool full-back Martin Kelly ended up in the squad.

Kelly had agreed to go on the list and flew to Poland after ­injuries to Gary Cahill, Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry left England short.
