TRANSFER Balls looks at Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas’ summer in the news media. Can he fill space to deadline? What utter balls can he news media say of the player?

May 19, Daily Mail:

Fabregas’ suitors have already been told that it will take £45million to get him…

May 21, Indy:

Speculation over midfielder leaving Barcelona fuelled as star is left out of club’s kit launch

It looks like the player is for sale.

May 22, Telegraph:

Arsenal have a buy-back option on Fabregas…Arsenal can re-sign him for around £25 million.

So. Not £45m, then. That’s good news for Manchester United who really want him:

May 24, MEN:

Van Gaal wants Fabregas

But Arsenal can get him for so much less. But, then, the Gunners don’t really want him:

May 23, Daily Telegraph:

Arsenal will not make signing Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas a priority in the transfer window

Or do they?

May 25, The Metro:

Arsenal boss has made Spanish international and former Gunners captain Fabregas his number one transfer target this summer…

Is he or isn’t he the priority? And Van Gaal wants him at Manchester United. That much is fact!

May 26, Daily Mail:

Barcelona offer Dani Alves, Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez for £64m

May 26: The Daily Mail spots Fabregas eating:

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas was photographed having dinner with girlfriend Daniella Semaan…

Er…

The pictures emerged at the same time as the news that the new Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal does not want to sign either Fabregas from Barcelona or Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich

That would be the Kroos the Mail said has already “sealed” a move to United (he hasn’t)?

United will stop at nothing to get Cesc:

May 27, The Sun:

Vann Gaal has told Manchester United that he does NOT want Barcelona ace Cesc Fabregas

So. United don’t want him. And in any case, he’s no longer for sale:

May 31, Daily Mirror:

Barcelona president warns Arsenal Cesc Fabregas is “not for sale”

NOT FOR SALE! Or to put it another way:

May 31, Daily Star:

Arsenal and Manchester United on red alert as Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas IS for sale

Okaaaay. So. Which top Premier League club wants the Spaniard?

Daily Mail, May 31:

Cesc Fabregas wanted by Liverpool… Reds join Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea in pursuit of Barcelona midfielder

The top four clubs all want shim. But not United, who don’t want him.

Liverpool are leading the chase to sign £30million-rated Cesc Fabregas who is determined to return to England after Barcelona made it clear they are willing to sell him.

Liverpool are favourites. But Arsenal have first dibs. Got it?

June 1, Daily Telegraph:

Cesc Fabregas will not return to Arsenal from Barcelona as Arsene Wenger rules out £30m move

So. Arsenal don’t want the player for £30m. What about the £25m the Telegraph says he was available for? But, in any case, Liverpool are favourites to land him:

Spain international will be allowed leave the Nou Camp with Manchester City now clear favourites to land the midfielder

So Manchester City are now in the hot seat?

June 1, SoccerLens:

Manchester United set to bid €37m to secure Arsenal target

So. To recap: Manchester Untied are favourites to buy the player they don’t want, who is not allowed to leave Barcelona, but who will surely head to Arsenal, who don’t want him but is tipped to play for Manchester City and Liverpool, unless Chelsea sign him.

More transfer balls every day.
