NEWS that a woman was beheaded in Edmonton, north London, is not linked to any form of terrorism. Got that? Yes, it must have bene terrifying but it wasn’t a beheading linked to any trcognised terrorist group. Probably.

The BBC:

The victim was found at an address in Nightingale Road, Edmonton, at about 13:00 BST, police said. Officers discovered her collapsed in a garden area and she was pronounced dead at the scene. A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody. Detectives said there is no suggestion the killing had a terrorist motive A Taser was used during the arrest of the man and a firearms officer is believed to have suffered a broken wrist.

Det Ch Insp John Sandlin said:

“Whilst it is too early to speculate on what the motive behind this attack was I am confident, based on the information currently available to me, that it is not terrorist related. Specially trained family liaison officers will be deployed to support the family.”

He won’t speculate but he will, er, speculate.

The BBC’s Home Affairs Correspondent Danny Shaw said it is unknown at this stage whether the victim and the suspect were known to each other.

The IBTimes says the woman was murdered by ‘Madman on Rampage with Machete’.

So. He knew the “madman” or didn’t?

Sky:

Other potential victims escaped in what appears to be a random attack, Sky sources say.

The Guardian makes a link to Islamists:

The incident, coming two days after video of a terrorist beheading of a US journalist gained widespread media coverage, sparked speculation as to its cause.

The Mail:

Eyewitnesses had reported seeing a ‘madman with a machete’ in the area around lunchtime. Sky News reports that other potential victims fled in a car from the area where the attack took place.
Some also said they saw him killing cats…

Rickie Benson, a builder working up the road from the horror scene, said: ‘I heard there was a man walking up the road cutting the head off a cat as he made his way to the house.

The paper then adds:

The road is a typical suburban street in the London Borough of Edmonton. The average house value on there is £310,000, while it is £275,000 in the local N9 postcode area.

Although that might have just dropped.

Enfield Independent:

Lauren Perkins, who lived on Goodwin Road, said: “I was walking down the road when I saw a man with a big knife walking down the street.

“Then I saw some police come down and they told me to get off the road. I just can’t believe something like that would happen. It’s just so shocking.”

The next door neighbour of the house where the attack took place, who wished not to be named, said: “I heard lots of screaming and shouting coming from next door. Then a guy with a knife was in our back garden. There was a lot of blood on the knife and he was just hacking away at stuff. It’s just unbelievable, I’m so shocked.”

The Mirror has fact-ish:

The Mirror also understands that this was reportedly a random attack

The Mirror has read all the other reports and presented it as a scoop.
