Not Madeleine McCann: Rui Pedro, A Missing Portuguese Child
FROM Paulo Reis in Portugal:
Help finding Rui Pedro – a missing Portuguese child
Filomena Teixeira, 43 years old, looks tired in the picture published by “Expresso”, a Portuguese weekly newspaper. Her son, Rui Pedro, vanished nine years ago, while playing near her office, in a small town, Lousada. His case was referred a few times, in the Portuguese Press, as an example of a case that had a very different approach, from Police, when comparing with Madeleine’s abduction.
Last week, Rui Pedro’s mother saw, for the first time, an image of how her son would be, now. The image was prepared by Scotland Yard Police Facial Imaging Team, following a formal request from Portuguese Police, after “Expresso” took the initiative to ask for help from British Police.
(…)
The family opened an bank account to ask for donations to help find Rui Pedro. The account never got more than one thousand euros. Rui Pedro’s family sent a message of solidarity to Gerry and Kate McCann and invited them to be members of the “Portuguese Association of Missing Children”. The message was sent on May 11, but they received no answer. More information about Rui Pedro may be found on this web page (English version): RuiPedro.Net

NP, I note this is an old thread. However, I’ve heard mention of the Rui Pedro case on and off on the MM thread.
Frankly, I very strongly feel and have felt all along that a thorough and indepth investigation needs to be conducted re the investigation conducted by the Portugese Police and the investigator involved when Maddie disappeared. And while they are at it add on the investigation of the Rui Pedro disappearance and police involved in that one.

I feel sorry that Rui Pedro’ case didn’t have as many help as the Mccann’s. It is shameful for the Portuguese Police.
There were so many tracks about Rui Pedro’s vanish.
Just check on the website: http://www.ruipedro.net
Força D. Filomena Teixeira!

Sorry for the repeat but initially only half of the paragraph showed up on the screeen.

Americans have a lot of crime and most Americans would have felt uncomfortable. The interviewer was likely speaking in general… Mrs. Bush’s staff reportedly met with Mr. McCann which meant he received special attention. There are many missing people in America. Check the statistic! The fact that Mr. McCann was able to meet with Mrs. Bush’s staff suggests to me that, regardless of the Mirror’s complaint about the interview, Mr. McCann was well received. Interviewers are just as hard on Americans so I assume the circumstance was nothing personal.

The Mirror reports that Mr. McCann was treated poorly in America when an interviewer claimed that no American would have left the children alone. I didn’t see or hear the interview so I am at a loss about the specifics. All I can assume is the interviewer meant that Americans are SOOOOOO aware of crime and he speaking in general… I think the fact that Mrs. Bush’s staff greeted Mr. McCann makes obvious Mr. McCann was given special attention. Mrs. Bush’s staff can’t possbily do that for all the children who go missing in America. There are a lot of missing people in America! Interviewers are especially hard on Americans too so I would assume the circumstance is not to be taken personally. Americans actually are high alert about crime so many might have a hard time trying to relate to the McCanns feeling of safety.

I feel sympathy for Madeleine. When I found out her parents were off drinking every night on holiday and had left all three children alone, my sympathy for them ended. Bottom line is, without the neglect, Funds, retirement from jobs, relocation, ‘events’, balloons, t-shirts, bracelets, etc., etc. would have never been necessary. Madeleine Beth McCann has become a marketing symbol for her parents to use to collect money and gain fame.
Believe me, I’d like to think otherwise. What an absolute tragedy this is — ALL facets of it. I’m another who doesn’t believe the McCanns and their pals. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain by lying about that tragic night.

Samantha i’ve been following this case closely and it’s the first i’ve heard of the birthmark on the leg too, but it brings to mind something that has been said by the parents when asked by the press about Madeleine and her favourite things -they stated that they have been advised by Portugese police not to publicly discuss Madeleine’s likes and dislikes. I cannot remember the reason, something to do with keeping info private for investigative reasons I think, although the whole bloody case has been shrouded in mystery. Perhaps it’s the same with the birthmark, a less obvious identifying feature than the eye that not everyone knows about. THis poor little girl is long gone and they’ve seen the last of her, just like Rui Pedro. And I think that Gerry Mccann has realised this. He’s spent so much time with specialists in missing children, at some stage he must have asked or been told that the chances of finding her or any trace of her are minimal. His focus seems to be very much on the broader issue of missing children, I think he’s facing the sad fact that Madeleine’s not returning. And Kate Mccann looks like a bundle of bones.

Hang on! The message was sent on May 11, but they received no answer. Well of course they didn’t, come-on! I don’t mean to sound selfish here but I’d still be thinking of my daughter at that point and perhaps only look at it 3mths down the line. It in no ways makes them out to be uncaring!

What birthmark and where did you read about it?

Gerry and Kate McCann need to contact the Pedro family instead of spending all their time trying to get in good with powerful and wealthy people.
Something is VERY WRONG with that so-called Maddy Fund! That seems to be all the McCanns are interested in. I do not believe Gerry and Kate are interested in other missing children or desire to represent them in any way at all. They continue to sucker their donors.
The McCanns are shamelessly promoting Madeleine for their own financial benefits.
I hope missing children such as Rui Pedro do not get slighted by the worldwide agencies that have been ‘entertaining’ Gerry McCann, one of two parents we now all know were, at minimum, neglectful. Madeleine wouldn’t have gone missing if only her parents had protected her.
Their ‘campaign’ is what interests them, not Madeleine.
And certainly not RUI PEDRO or any other missing child.

Apart from one all seem to be adult now, if they are alive.
Strange we have never heard about MM’s birthmark on her leg
