Madeleine McCann: Shooting A Plea
Maddywatch - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS, front page: ‘SYRINGE FOUND IN MADELEINE’S APARTMENT’: Parents’ anger at new claims they drugged her. (Plus pages 4 and 5, with logo: THE HUNT FOR MADELEINE: Day 119”).
THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER brings new Maddy gossip – the “dramatic” claim in the Portuguese press that the McCanns might have been sedating their children to help them sleep, and accidentally given Madeleine an overdose.
DAILY TELEGRAPH, page 14: School peg waiting but Maddy misses her very first day
The paper publishes its version of a story run in other papers yesterday, when the headteacher said that a place had been kept for Madeleine.
THE TIMES, page 23: Father’s plea to Madeleine abductor
The paper records that Gerry McCann issued an appeal to Madeleine’s abductor, saying: “It is not too late to do the right thing.”
DAILY MAIL, page 41: Save your soul and give us back our Madeleine, pleads father
The paper says the appeal “was being seen as a last-ditch attempt by Mr McCann and his wife Kate to get their daughter back before making the painful decision to return home to Rothley, Leicestershire, after almost four months in the Algarve.”
DAILY MIRROR, page34: It’s NOT too late: MADELEINE DAD IN LAST-DITCH APPEAL
“Sometimes people do things for reasons even they cannot understand, “ says Mr McCann “An act of madness, an accident or sudden impulse can lead to consequences that people may never have imagined or intended. Faced with such a situation we believe any human soul will ultimately suffer torment and feelings of guilt and fear. If you have done something you regret, if you are in a situation you never intended, it is not too late to do the right thing.”
THE STAR, page 17: SYRINGE THAT ‘KNOCKED OUT MADDIE’ FOUND: Family fury at new claims
The paper quotes McCann spokeswoman Justine McGuinness saying that the parents hae already denied using sedatives on their children.
THE SUN, page 33: IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO DO THE RIGHT THING: Gerry’s plea to Maddy kidnapperThe paper reports Mr McCann’s “heart-rending plea”. And provides a lin to the Sun’s Maddie poster (“in five languages”).
THE INDEPENDENT, page 8: McCann’s plea to abductor
The paper reports briefly on Mr McCann’s “extraordinary plea”.
THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

Probably because we didn’t have our hearing aids switched on.
It would be nice therefore if you could direct us to where you heard them say this…

PLEASE READ BRIAN LADD’S WEBSITE - http://WWW.BRIANSDREAMS.COM
HE BELIVES MADELEINE IS EITHER IN THE BASEMENT OF ROBERT MURAT’S HOME OR IN THE BASEMENT OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THE PORTUGESE POLICE ARE BEHIND THIS AND THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER ABDUCTIONS IN PORTUGAL. BRIAN HAS BEEN USED BY POLICE TO HELP THEM FIND MISSING PEOPLE. HE HAS A VERY HIGH RATE OF ACCURACY.

I cannot believe that the parents have anything to do with the disappearance of Madeleine, unless they confess for me they are innocent.

Anna- whaaat are you talking about???
…many bad catholic schools create this kind of mixed up thinking in Catholics…
What are you basing this ridiculous, massively generalised assertion on?
You know I was about to respond to everything that is wrong about your post, but it would take too long, and I can’t be bothered as the cr*p you’ve written isn’t worthy of the effort.
All I really need to point out is that you seem to have a massive anti-catholic chip on your shoulder and it is clouding your judgement!

100% correct Kath.
September 2nd, 2007 at 2:58 pm
Anna. IVF is NOT disapproved of by the Catholic Church providing unwanted fertilised eggs are donated and not destroyed.
Makeshift Nursery Appartment? Que?
Quite a long, inaccurate rant. Maybe you should get the facts straight first next time?

393 - UHhhhhhhh……..YEAAAA!! It’s more than weird but I won’t type expletives on here like others do. I’m on my way to church to pray for everyone.
-Til next time…
September 2nd, 2007 at 2:53 pm
391 - NO I don’t - I have a zillion guy friends, and co-workers they all treat me like gold!! I have never even been subjected to misogyny before Bulldump/Spudgun’s awful comments to me. To be quite honest, I won’t even show it to my husband for fear he would go beserk. I am 5′8 and 130 lbs and a big runner and swimmer. I have no body fat on me whatsoever and the guy who never met me calls me FAT! LOL. I didn’t respond because it’s so preposterous. But what he’s really saying is that “all Americans are fat because they media says so and you are an American so therefore you are fat”. The Catholic comments, I just recieve with total pity for the person(s) who say that. Because afterall, my religion is about forgiveness. Even if this person says “I won’t apologize to Tessa for my comments” because he says he’s not out of line.
Chivalry is quite dead with this guy. Because no man would ever talk like that to a woman. Any woman. And trust me, he was not joking at all!
On that note, I am off to church this morning to pray for the strength to love the sinner but hate the sin.
What is

If the McCann’s are taking the Portuguese Police for fools, there will be hell to pay for this. The question was raised, does G. McCann have enough hustle in him to pull it off? Several things are known about this man. He was not beyond abandoning his small children in a makeshift nursery apartment at night and leaving their well being to fate. Whatever the cause of Madeleine’s disappearance, it is a fact that it happened on his watch and under his parental authority. He was not beyond thumbing his nose at his own church’s authoritative teachings that IVF is “gravely immoral”. For a Catholic to oppose that level of teaching is to demonstrate the ability to oppose every other moral teaching, such as doing whatever it takes to save your own “dignity”… (The appearance of dignity is the one big thing for the modern church). He is not beyond criticizing and ridiculing the police who after all, did perform their duties and carried out a search of the area as soon as they finally got enough coherent information to do so. Further, the McCann’s are actually filing a lawsuit because their “dignity” has been compromised by people thinking they may have had a hand in their little daughter’s disappearance. Mr. McCann is a man who has thumbed his nose at his own parental authority, his own church’s authority, the authority of the state and now he’s worried about his “dignity”. His own children are going to despise him, his church ignores him, the state has had enough of him and the press is toying with him. Where’s the “dignity”? He really ought to drop the law-suit. It could turn out that some clever minded criminal saw too easy an opportunity and took advantage of the situation, but it’s more likely, based on what Mr. McCann has demonstrated about his own personal views on authority, that he once again over-stepped his boundaries, this time as a doctor. It is a very sad situation, and unfortunately, many bad catholic schools create this kind of mixed up thinking in Catholics. The whole family needs our prayers.

LOL LOL All above with humor
I am too tired tonight to think.
On the serious side,
I think the fund will be telling. If anyone knows there was an accident, considering that theory, is it wise to continue dipping into the fund?
The McCanns are returning home without Madeleine.
It is hard being an American to know how to anticipate the news coverage about Madeleine. Most likely there will be DNA results.
Yes, Moderation if the McCanns return home without Madeleine will the police continue to search for her if she was abducted? Do you consider the move back to the UK a good idea?
So, do any of you visit the Anorak forums regularly? I checked out the other forums today. LOL LOL
If the Madeleine site goes down I will fell lost without all these irritable people. OHhhhhhh
Exhaust.

September 2nd, 2007 at 8:20 am
Oh yes, last but not least the really CRAZY part is the normal guys appear to come on acting like ladies. I mean maybe it is a British thing???? Could that be it? The British humor they keep talking about the Americans just don’t get…
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:14 am
Some of the guys on here are normal though. Paul, Richard and more. Just watch for the weird names like Teddy Boy and wonder what the hell he might be up to tonight?
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:12 am
Another thing this of those names they use??????? Bulldump so you know sort of what he think he is full of ? and then Spudgun anybody got gun in it??? and then Teddy Boy so what is his weird gear I would wonder??
It is hard to think of too many guys you try to chat that curse you out? That is abnormal!!
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:10 am
Think of it like this Tessa When guys want to curse out ladies trying to chat with him that is ODD? don’t you think?
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:09 am
That is why one day I told I think it was actually Spudgun that okay he and the guy want to have their own little party.
hhhhoooo hhhhooo
Other days Spudgun is ok. I bet in person many of them cop a new attitude.
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:07 am
Teddy Boy even went so far to say he worries about me. Now you know we aren’t on here to be figuring me out now are we?
Tessa Now I realize you are in the US I didn’t know that. Okay. I don’t know about guys that don’t like chicks do you? I mean really? What normal guys want to go around telling off ladies??????? something wrong with that picture?
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:03 am
Tessa don’t worry they have been fussy to me too. Just come back anyway.
I’ve been called worse on here. Sick, boring, etc. etc. need to get FFFKKGGG life and all that. No one has my e mail address that I’ve noticed. How do they get your e mail? I don’t care. My thought is to have everyone come over to discuss it in person and say all that crap. TEA at my place. Come for the tour in the US and do this face to face.
Just don’t worry. Some days they are real fussy and other days they are ok.
Tessa anybody admit they are bulldump now think about it?

Kath Moderation
NO Moderation don’t leave!
I think the problem is the intitial mistake of leaving the children alone. Plus the neighbor hearing a child crying a previous night, which wasn’t denied in the smear denials I read in print. The children left alone again after another big mistake. Most people appeared to believe an abduction without question intially There is little leak of much abduction evidence and ? Finally people look at a timeline and notice not much checking, the reported checking odd statments, inconsistencies, child is gone, someone missing from the table and ? Dog snifff reports coming from the Dutch? always question but? Police talking about an accidental death strong theory. My point is there is more to fall into place with a non abduction theory than an abduction. That doesn’t not convince me there was not an abduction.
Moderation hopefully you will follow this through Okay? Keeping the balance?
September 2nd, 2007 at 7:03 am
Well said Kath. With you all the way.
No I’m nothing to do with the Mods…. I used the name because i thought of myself as moderate (still do) but its a bit late to change names again.
When I first posted I did under my name but I got abusive mails thru my website so had to resort to anonymity. Shame really…. Will try and think of achange thats obvious and not ambiguous.
I think I’m getting bored with it all now though so maybe its getting close to time to quit anyway. I notice many of the ‘moderates’ have gone already.

Most of you have probably read this but I add the link because I am concerned why none of the reports mention anything about Madeleine’s interest…
Hassle regarding news article, sueing and so on but Madeleine really does appear to get lost in all of this, as you pointed out earlier Tessa.
I assume the British are best to make an assumption about what to expect?
September 2nd, 2007 at 6:16 am
Tessa Earlier I was worried but yes this is holiday weekend. I have more in the house than usual but late at night I can read the posts. What a relief! For a while I thought maybe the forum was going silent.
I am having a difficult time understanding the direction of the case at this point.
Hopefully Molly and others will post again after the weekend, if not sooner.
Tessa are you in the UK or USA or where?
September 2nd, 2007 at 6:04 am
379 - you know moderation, you’re absolutely right. i had not thought of this before but i’ve been insulted for being catholic and for being american all in the last week in multiple emails. i guess that could be perceived as libelous too?? now that i think of it, i’ve never had anyone insult me on a religious or nationality basis b4 this. and certainly not all in one forum and in the same week. you’ve opened my eyes up from underneath the blinders i was wearing. i was also called fat and cursed at by bulldump/spudgun too today. i don’t get it??? why be so mean when this is supposed to be fun and enjoyment for all.
i didn’t know that you were not the mods and admin. i thought that was why you were called “moderation”.
ok - good nite, it’s quite late where i am…..
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:49 am
Kath - In a case like this there are also various issues regarding innocence. Of course nobody could be accused of removing Madeleine until proved = but there are issues which the McCanns are guilty of - the most serious thus far is the issue of leaving their children alone. There is no doubt as to their guilt as far as that one is concerned. They are guilty of not providing a baby sitter - no doubt on that one, they are also guilty of courting the media (albeit to get results) so therefore debate begins and accusations escalate. The McCanns may not have had a trial by the courts, but the public have put them on trial because they have dangled themselves in the public eye.
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:41 am
The thing to remember is that the McCanns have been accused of nothing except by the media- which is hardly any sort of fair trial.
Those of you who refer to your ‘hunches’ about their behaviour in interviews, and back it up with stories of syringes, dogs and odours, statements about a man with a blanket/ child- no man/blanket/child etc, etc, etc; …the only part you are actually qualified to comment on definitively is your attitude about the interview, as the rest is supposition.
None of it has been confirmed by the PJ, and infact they have continually made official statements referring to the Mccanns as witnesses and victims- not suspects. Any opinion you have arrived at, based on your ‘feelings’ about an interview, and subsequent gossip, would be inadmissable in a court of law, and carries as much weight as Brian’ s dreams.
Peope who post here and are clearly intelligent, are undermining their own intelligence with such hunches/ feelings/ belief in unsubstantiated gossip etc etc etc.
I think it would be better to be a person who, with such scant true knowledge, believed in someone’s innocence until they were proven guilty, particularly if the relevant party was possibly experiencing a horrific ordeal- than to be a person who called a victim of a horrific crime the ‘perpetrator’ based on their interpretation of hearsay, and made that victim’s experience even more unendurable.
And does everyone who posts here not follow the wisdom of ‘innocent until prove guilty’, which is what this amounts to? If you do agree that someone is ‘innocent until proven guilty’ in theory, then should that not be your attitude in practise?
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:39 am
spindnb4 - did you see a fall?
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:13 am
I can remote view.
If anyone else can I strongly urge you not to on this one in the early stages.
I went into the mother and child .
They love each other so much.
Child trusts mother so much.
A mothers panic is not something you should ever feel.
The emotion overwhelmed me.
Beyond that moment I did not go.
