I’m a private pilot. No I dont own a plane, I rent one for my trips into the friendly skies.
I watched the news report of this almost disaster and the pilot did very well. Strong crosswinds on takeoff or landing are VERY dangerous.
He should be commended for a job well done, but why did the ground controllers have him landing in that direction with those winds? Was that the only available runway?
I was once in a similar situation, it was the closest I ever came to soiling my underwear in terror.
