Madeleine McCann: Watching Amelie and Sean
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
Scotland on Sunday: “McCanns celebrate twins’ birthday but Madeleine is ‘never far from their minds’”
The Scotland on Sunday can now read the minds of four-year-olds. Today is the fourth birthday do for Our Maddy’s siblings, Amelie and Sean. Scotland on Sunday is watching the kids.
Why? Are Sean and Amelie arguidos?! Who don’t think..? Perhaps the papers are on to something?
The McCanns have invited a number of close friends and relatives to their Leicestershire home for a low-key celebration.
Low key? How may four-year-old’s parties make it into the national press?
The family are determined to make the day special for the siblings and among their pile of presents is a gift from Madeleine, who they have not seen since she went missing on May 3, 2007.
Our Maddie is missing. But – no matter – we’ve still got the twins to gawp at:
Despite the huge impact Madeleine’s disappearance has had on the family, the McCanns have vowed to give Sean and Amelie a “normal childhood”.
What can be more normal than a feature in the press?

Hi Jo
I still don’t really understand them. I know they’re in the media all the time – but I’d be ripping Portugal apart if I was them. Harassing the PJs, the government, the social workers, the schools, the mental hospitals – any group that might be dealing with a newly turned-up child or a crazy person who might be a kidnapper.
I’d also be scrutinising the press for similar crimes (or whatever you call it – unexplained disappearances).
When it comes to finding a child missing in a foreign country, the public in Britain is mostly useless, and there’s no point in appealing to us (except maybe once a year when we’re off on our hols).

Why have a low key celebration. It’s their fourth birthdya for goodness sake. The twins haven’t done anything. Poor kids, they will bear the brunt of Madeliene’s disappearance until they leave home!

Despite the huge impact Madeleine’s disappearance has had on the family, the McCanns have vowed to give Sean and Amelie a “normal childhood”.
That’s gonna be pretty difficult if they continue to report every single ‘milestone’ in the papers.
