Madeleine McCann: Exclusive Interview With New Paedo Suspect
MADELEINE McCann Watch: Having re-established Our Maddie as a lead news story, the Sun sends Alex West to Germany to interview Raymond Hewlett…
The Sun has managed to catch up with wheelchair rider and cancer patient Raymond Hewlett at a hospital. Having tracked down the man a couple of days after German tabloid Bild interviewed him and he agreed to speak with the McCanns’ detectives, the Sun reacts:
The piece is called “CONFRONTED” and goes like this:
We caught up with the foul-mouthed fiend as he sat in a wheelchair, gawping at passers-by including children, outside a hospital in Aachen, Germany. He is being treated there for throat cancer. This is how the confrontation unfolded…
We won’t bring you it all, just this highlight which pretty much sums up the entire episode up:
SUN: Why don’t you eliminate yourself from the inquiry for the sake of the McCanns?
HEWLETT: I don’t have to speak to you. F*** off.
Such is the power of the British media.
Bild got fruther by using honey instead of vinegar. Read that interview here.

Garth- what were you trying to post? Something in backing the McCann’s Detectives and numerous Paedo suspects inhabiting Portugal?

Now how did you guess that Cheryl?

Just in case a few fail to grasp the law regarding libel……….. ….. and you know who you are.

Hi Maria, yes I’m fine. Hope all’s well at your place too. Seems Chesty’s planning another meeting, so we can finally do the house swap.
Yampster, Jack Ruby theory? Sorry, I’ve missed it. Yes Oprah was a real disappointment for some people. And so was the petition to stop Channel4 broadcasting the documentary, it seems. There’s still a few left though, at ‘the other’ place. Chatters for instance.
Brandon, the McCanns are (according to the papers) suing Saint Gonzo for libel. It seems UK publishers don’t want to take the risk to publish his book. Do you think it’s wise to put up a link to his (translated) book?

Keep it ‘libel’ free, huh. Then why wasn’t BF’s posting removed?

Its a shame you’re no longer a moderator. At least we would be assured that moderation would be fair. Maybe we should talk about dogs or babies and be Frist at every opportunity to be welcomed.

Garth… I keep getting moderated/deleted for no reason. Even when I wrote in support of one of the McCann group, not at all critical. Slowly losing interest, especially after not having been dumped in moderation in all the years I’ve been here!

Unfortunately your software is a bit slow. I posted a link at 12.06. Would you kindly unedit your edit.
Was a bit like when you barred me from posting after saying you had previously given me a warning. Trouble was, your moderation came after my second post. You need to bare that in mind else you’ll have no posters at all.

Did you mean ‘EDIT’ or have you already done it?
May 28th, 2009 at 10:50 am
yes they have Garth. They are trying to prove a dead theory of abduction. A theory that we all know is about solid and reliable as the dogs evidence eh
May 28th, 2009 at 10:10 am
Edited. We have a child missing and a possible sighting of her and her abductor by Tanner and a 4 independent witnesses,
Five people are of interest to the McCann private investigators and apparently one of particular interest.
How cooperative I wonder, will the Portuguese authorities be? They had already appointed an apparently reputable detective to the case in the form of Rebello. Nothing new came to light.
Edited
The private detectives have a difficult job on their hands.
Moderator - Provide a source for the claims you are making of 38 known paedophiles in the area, especially as the 500 metres of the Ocean Club location.

Totje,
Yup still counting them out. There haven’t been many since the Oprah interview where they expected her to tear into the McCanns but there are still a few about. Did you see my Jack Ruby theory? Beaten to it by someone else though.
May 28th, 2009 at 12:24 am
Hi Totje!
Yes, but I MUST get a life again! Hope all well with you?
Trismegistus
Mixing me up with someone? I never said it was “blameless”. I always thought it very unwise, and not something I’d do myself, even though we all know very well that countless parents do similar things, though probably…….hopefully……..fewer since Madeleine. In fact, countless parents do far, far worse and it doesn’t even make a line in the press, much less attempted prosecution for neglect or a hate campaign.
May 28th, 2009 at 12:12 am
I’ve not read the story yet, but am willing to bet, if it’s in the Mail, that somewhere there’ll be a reference to how much the house is worth. The Sun always does it too.
Is there any such thing as a tragic accident these days, I wonder?
May 27th, 2009 at 11:43 pm
9 Maria - if such behaviour is so blameless then why are you so enthusiastic about saying that you would never do such a thing?
just curious…
May 27th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Hi Maria (and everybody else). IT’s good to see you’re still around.
Yampster still working on the countdown? And where’s Gandy? Still telling Kate gets arrested when she returns to Portugal?
Wise words Garh.
“The only HUGE difference is peoples perception of what constitutes neglect.”
That’s why there’s a prosecutor who decides if s/he is going to put charges and a judge/jury who decide about guilty or not..
Lucky there’s still no trial by forums of newspapers.
But there’s someone who got convicted recently.
May 27th, 2009 at 11:13 pm
Garth
You’re right.
I suppose the biggest difference really is that the Madeleine case was not over and done with quickly. It was the fact that it remained a mystery that kept attention focused on it and made people begin to ask questions. The initial reaction was incredibly sympathetic, even from people who said they wouldn’t have left their children alone, even for short periods of time. Of course, at the beginning a lot of people freely said they were so shocked and sympathetic precisely because they HAD done the same thing themselves. Then, when the media and the websites started the hate stuff, people who used to do exactly the same thing with their own kids began to keep more and more quiet.
However, the media campaign was so crazy and the theories so barmy that, pretty soon, people knew very well it was full of lies.

Matter of opinion.
“on the razz” is emotive language. Try “eating with friends nearby”.
In fact, if your children sleep well, there’s probably less danger in leaving them asleep when you’re checking them every 20 - 30 minutes and one or other of your party is passing regularly even when you’re not.
NOT that I would ever do such a thing, I hasten to add. I’m NOT saying it’s safe but forced to make a choice, I’d go for asleep in bed rather than the street. In my view, although I have only sympathy for this poor family, it is NEVER, EVER safe to let a three year-old play out in the STREET. Even in your own garden a three year-old should always be supervised, never mind in the street. Any child is in some danger in the street but a child that young is bound to be in serious danger in such a situation.
BTW, I don’t know the details of the Bradford case. Parents may have assumed grandfather was supervising. I’m just saying that kids die or are injured all the time as a result of “negligence” but the McCann case aroused antipathy in a few people, so much so that they ended up being accused of all sorts of crimes in a frenzy of media hatred. (Admittedly, most people took no notice of the rags!)

May 27th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
It would depend Maria.
People would naturally have sympathy for the parents at their loss……… until the media shows its hand and unfairly portrays the family to be everything but loving and caring.
Thats all it would take for the simpletons to vent their anger at the parents when in truth, the real issues lie within their own shallow lifestyles.
May 27th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
Maria, there’s a HUGE difference, in my opinion, between letting a three year old play out (I’m guessing it wasn’t a main road) and leaving three young children alone, at night, totally unsupervised, in a strange, dark apartment while you go out on the razz.
