What We Know About Stephanie Birkitt, David Letterman’s Former Lover
THE, alleged, David Letterman extortion plot focuses on Robert Halderman, who works on the true-life crime show 48 Hours - he claims to be not guilty of trying to extort £1.2million from Letterman over the TV hosts alleged affairs with members of his staff.

Brian, have to agree with you. Both over 21 and adults with free choice. One only need only to at the younger women dating older man for their money. There is no innocent victim in an affair whether it is based on love, infatuation or pure lust. Many a lovely young assistant or subordinate has stolen the boss away from his wife and it wasn’t by accident. As someone said one time “did you ever see a bear trap chase a bear.”
I’m not fond of Letterman and I don’t know him but I do feel he is getting a bad rap in this mess. He was single and she was and no one’s business what either one did with their personal life. If he wasn’t famous no one would have bothered about what he did in his private life.

Hi,
Just in:
Wily and bewitching Birkitt seduces doddering Dave for M$$$!!!
Harassment is defined by dictionary.com as:
to disturb persistently; torment, as with troubles or cares; bother continually; pester; persecute.
We have not heard from Stephanie yet. If she does not think that she was tormented, pestered or persecuted by Dave, then there is no harassment. How many lovely and charming assistants actually go on to marry their boss?
One could clearly see that Stephanie and Dave had a chemistry. Perhaps, they just both agreed, as adults will do, to take the relationship to the next level. She spoke about him in the most glowing terms, “the greatest boss I could ever have”, indicating that she had a crush on if not an infatuation with him.
The battle-axes at NOW seem to somehow know that he threatened her job to force her to put out. They speak of “widespread objectification of women in the workplace” and “abuse of power leading to an inappropriate, if not hostile, workplace”. A single case does not prove widespread anything and the only hostility I see here is the persecution by the ogresses at NOW against Dave. Why is it that whenever there is sex that the woman is the innocent victim and the man is the heinous perpetrator?
If this is a case of 2 consenting adults doing what adults will do, it is the business of exactly 2 people because neither was married at the time.
NOW wants to pass federal legislation criminalizing all sex between men and women. And, who will these lonely girls have to turn to then? Nya, nya, nya!
We need to hear from Monty before we lynch Dave. For all we know, this may be a fiendish plot masterminded by the wily and bewitching Ms. Birkitt to seduce doddering Dave and walk away with a cool mill. Can you swear that you would not boink the old boy for a million?
My $0.02

You are wrong, Steve, if he was working for the Government he would not be fired. However, yes, if he were in the Service and shagging a subordinate or subordinate’s wife he would be in deep trouble. The Military world is a whole different ballgame than the ‘real’ world. I know what I speak of as I was a Navy Captain’s wife. Affairs take place in the military just one don’t dare get caught or they could face charges. Example, the Colonel I would see visiting the Lt. Colonel’s wife every time the Lt. Colonel went out of town. The Commander whose hopes of making Captain destroyed because his wife slept with men at the base every time he went to sea. My husband had a policy when his ship was coming back to port earlier than expected. None of his men could leave that ship until they phoned home to tell their wives they were back early. I asked him why he did that. He said very simply we are at sea for some time and no doubt some of those wives are running around and I don’t want my men going home and finding them with whoever. So, it goes on in the military as it does in the real world..
I agree Letterman is rather ‘creepy’ and has a strange sense of humor. However, the one woman named as having a relationship with him was no innocent victim in that affair. She is over 21 and not some hero worshipping teen. More women than not know exactly what they are doing when they get involved with a famous man or an executive above them. Women are as a capable of using a man for her own personal gains as men are capable of using women. When a man’s blood travels south there is not enough blood left up north for them to think clearly with that gray matter they were born with.

The bloom is off his rose, even the media types are calling hime a creepy, grumpy, bitter letch. His anger and disdain flows through the boob tube. He is not funny it is not enjoying to see such a bitter man worth millions of dollars when you get into bed ending your day. The story is as old as time, I was in a senior position in the Army for years. Yes you can take advantage of the young new female recruits, however morally and lawfully is it Wrong! Classic example of a complete loser, ugly dork who gets a little fame and money and goes through his life to try to right all the wrongs he feels society has delt him. I really understand why the tonight show went to Leno and they dumped Letterman. If this were the Federal Government he would be fired and face criminal charges. People wonder why the world did not give us the chance for the olympics, well when you applaude sexual harassment and applaude child rapists and morally challenged Hollywood you get the cold shoulder of the globe.

I give him a lot of credit for announcing it rather than pay the blackmail. No doubt most people at the station knew about his escapades, anyhow. One can’t keep an affair a secret in an office, most people can tell who is sleeping with whom by just watching their reactions when around each other. Usually the only people to not know about an office affair are the spouses. .
I know of one place where affairs were so rampant they actually had it in the personnel handbook that they understood that close relationships could develop in an office but if anyone felt they were coerced into a relationship to please tell personnel.
