The world according to Harry Redknapp: Spurs players don’t need him

THE world according to Harry Redknapp part 786b: destined by seen by many as the great England manager who never was, the Spurs boss has been talking about his situation at the club.

Before we go on, a few words to Redknapp’s fans, mostly at the Sun, which has already decided to hate Roy Hodgson. At the  England versus Germany at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Harry was a pundit who offered us his game plan:

“I think he’ll leave it for 10, 15 minutes, see how we go, and if it’s not right I think maybe he’ll bring Crouchie on, you know, stick the big man up there, keep piling it into the box, and see if we can make something happen there.”

Back to the present, and Redknapp has just one year left on his Tottenham contract. He says on Jun 5:

“If they don’t extend it and I go into my last year, it’s not an easy one when players know you’ve only got a year left. It’s nothing to do with security, it’s about players knowing you’ve only got a year left on your contract, and knowing that, it doesn’t work basically, you know, ‘He might not be here next season.'”

Can this be the same H. Redknapp who on March 23 2011 reacted to the idea that his leaving Spurs for Eng;and would upset the team? As he said back then:

“Absolute nonsense. That is the biggest load of nonsense I have ever heard in my life. They don’t care whether I’m the manager next year. They wouldn’t lose any sleep over that. That’s football.  Footballers play the game, they come in every day and train. Someone else walks in here tomorrow – the king is dead long live the king! They don’t worry. They don’t think ‘Harry is going to England’ or ‘he is going to go somewhere else.'”

Such are the facts…
