5ive canvas for new member… on Facebook

by | 17th, January 2013

IT must be depressing being in a 90s boyband these days. Who remembers you? Barely no-one. If they do, they’re invariably crazed old fans, ravaged by time and still lustily chasing after you while ignoring their furious partners and children.

And so, while Kavana and Gina G Skype each other about temping for office work, 5ive have decided to leave the 90s behind and get modern, by posting a classified on Facebook in a bid to find a new fifth member.

5ive, who are probably slam dunking the funk a little more reservedly these days, are getting back together alongside Atomic Kitten and B*Witched for an ITV2 show called The Big Reunion. However, Jason ‘J’ Brown has declined the offer to haul his arse around in baggy jeans and doing dance routines again.

Band founder Chris Herbert posted on Facebook:

Looking for a member to join an established and extremely successful band. If you are male… late 20s early 30s, singer and/or rapper, great looks and swagga, inbox me… THIS COULD BE YOUR CALLING!

The remaining members Richard Breen (or ‘Abz’ as he was called… now inevitably ‘Titz’), Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville and Scott Robinson are also said to be in battle over the group’s current name.

A source said:

“Scott wants to ditch it, saying it’s stupid, but Ritchie Neville wants to keep it. And Ritchie sounds like an extra in Neighbours after years of pulling pints over there (Australia).”

Liberty X, 911 and Honeyz will also appear on ITV2’s The Big Reunion, which airs later this month to a sea of depressed faces, weeping into Doritos and Lambrini.
