BUS DRIVERS in Marseille do not like “the quality, the colour or the fit” of their new trousers. Workers with RTM, (Régie des transports de Marseille), are making ready for a day if industrial action on June 3rd.

Says CGT union leader Bernard Gargiolo:

I won’t be wearing them. The shirts are alright, but these pants are far too tight. We reject the bottom half of this uniform, which has the same colour as the Gendarmerie National.”

The top half is a lavender-coloured shirt, replacing the yellow ones. (This is France, readers.) The uniform’s designer is Jonathan Charles. Says he:

“People are saying they’ll look like clowns. Well, that was already the case with the old outfits.”

Always useful in an industrial disputes to call the other side clowns. It only helps to lighten the mood.

The solution is, of couse, to introduce corduroy trousers, which are built for comfort and not for speed. The bonus with cords is that the wearer looks like a geography teacher or your dad arriving to pick you up from a night out, which can only further help instill trust in passengers.
