Transfer Balls: Adam Lallana Signs For Liverpool For £10m Less Than Southampton Demand

TRANSFER Balls: Is Adam Lallana heading out of Southampton? Where is he going?  Let’s see what the newspaper experts have been reporting the summer so far?

First up, Lalllana was Manchester United bound. And he was better than Arsenal’s young English star. So said the local Manchester newspaper.

March 6, Manchester Evening News: “Better than Wilshere: Why United are right to target Lallana”

One day later, Lallana was staying put.

May 7, The Mirror: “Liverpool target Adam Lallana hints he will stay at Southampton after winning the club’s Player of the Year award”

He did say he wanted to progress at the club. To which ESPN responded with the headline:

Lallana set to snub Liverpool after Southampton pledge

Five says later, the Daily Mirror was asking a question.

May 10, The Mirror: “Liverpool news and transfer rumours: Adam Lallana pleads with Southampton to agree Anfield switch?”

A statement followed by a question mark can be easily answered with a “NO”. The Mirror was talking balls. But the Star would trump them all. Two days later, Allan was at Anfield.

May 12, Daily Star: “Southampton star Adam Lallana AGREES £20m move to Liverpool”

That was utter balls. Lallana hadn’t agreed anything new.

But soon the Star’s sister organ was saying that Lallana was on his way to United. Well, so Liverpool feared.

May 15, Daily Express: “Liverpool FEAR Manchester United will hijack move for Southampton star Adam Lallana”

As the Express read minds at Anfield, the Guardian was putting one and one together to make whatever it wanted to. Lallana was off to Spurs.

May 28, The Guardian: “Pochettino to target Lallana after agreeing Tottenham Hotspur deal – Manager to return to Southampton in bid for Lallana”

But he didn’t. Well, he hasn’t. But the story was out there. And
