Blurred Lines: a look at songs that sound very much like other songs. Let’s look at the Sugar Hill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight and the Ketchup Song (Asereje) by Las Ketchup.

First up, the Gang and that catchy beat:

I said a hip hop,
Hippie to the hippie,
The hip, hip a hop, and you don’t stop, a rock it
To the bang bang boogie, say, up jump the boogie,
To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat.

And now for Ketchup kids who appear, as MichaelPDeacon has discovered, to be singing the lyrics of Rapper’s Delight in comedy Spanish accents.

aserejè ja de jè de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi,
aserejè ja de jè de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi
