Belle Gibson does not have brain cancer. She never did. Belle Gibson is a “wellness blogger” who is very well indeed.

Gibson launched a global “lifestyle and wellness” business on the back of claims that her brain tumour was cured by natural therapies and vegetables. Now she says:

In an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly, Ms Gibson was asked if she had, or ever had cancer. “No. None of it’s true,” she told the magazine.

So. What about the money she’s earned? Says Belle:

“I don’t want forgiveness. I just think [speaking out] was the responsible thing to do. Above anything, I would like people to say, ‘OK, she’s human.’”

Can we get that in writing from a doctor?

Gibson said she had been “wrongly” diagnosed with cancers she claimed to have in her blood, spleen, uterus and liver by a German magnetic therapist, but maintained her terminal brain cancer was real.

Can we get a second opinion?

The Indy adds:

In the latest interview, Gibson claimed that her difficult upbringing was a factor in her lying about having cancer.

“When I started school, my mum went: ‘My daughter is grown up now’. All of a sudden I was walking to school on my own, making school lunches and cleaning the house every day,” she said.

“It was my responsibility to do grocery shopping, do the washing, arrange medical appointments and pick up my brother. I didn’t have any toys.”

Barbie made her do it!

The Women’s Weekly continues:

“She says she is passionate about avoiding gluten, dairy and coffee, but doesn’t really understand how cancer works.”

Well, here’s the bad news, Belle: you can get it from magnets…
