Kimmo Wilska Sacked For Drinking Beer Live On Air: BBC News To Use Props

KIMMO Wilska is the English-language news anchor in Finland who thought it a good idea to illustrate an item about Finland’s alcohol licensing laws by drinking beer on air.

He’s been sacked. But we think that news readers helping viewers better understand what the story is and means with motions, props and acting is useful.

The BBC’s Louise Minchin and Bill Turnbull are already halfway there. Whenever it’s a sad story, they both look sad. When its a story they don’t approve of, they tilt their heads, purse their lips and give the big sideways eye.

The next logical step to help thick telly watchers make sense of it all must be props.
