Flamboyant Hacker Topiary aka Jake Davis was Agoraphobic, Clever, Quiet & Withdrew After A Family Death

by | 1st, August 2011

Flamboyant hacker Jake Davis, who now facing 10 years in prison, was a “clever, quiet” boy who developed a fear of open spaces and withdrew from school and friends after a family member died while he was in his early teens  according to a woman who claimed to know him.

Kelly Smith said on the Facebook page Free Topiary

“he was clever, quiet and never did anything wrong…ever. got agoraphobia when he was 13-14 ish after a family bereavement…nobody ever really saw him after that”

The description of a quiet boy afraid of open spaces contrasts with Davis’ online persona as Topiary, the spokesperson of LulzSec – whose wordy but creative ramblings about LulzBoats and pirates shook fear into corporations from Sony to the Arizona police – all groups who fell prey to the hacker groups attacks – and sarcasm.

He is due to be charged in court tomorrow.
