emma-amelia-pearl-czikaiBIG Bother ends and in the time it takes a goldfish to recite the Kings and Queens of England (with dates), we bring news of Britain’s Got Talent singer, Emma Amelia Pearl Czikai.

Emma – The Hairy Oyster – has filed a discrimination complaint against the show. You see, Emma has a condition that affects her ability to hear own singing voice. That’s Emma on the stage:

“I do have the ability to move people. People have cried when they have heard me sing.”

She sings You Raise Me Up. She sings one line of You Rise Me Up. Piers Morgan presses his gong. Simon Cowell presses his. Eyebrow wrangler Amanda Holden lets The Hairy Oyster sing a verse. And then she hits her gong.

Czikai complains to the media regulator Ofcom. She files a complaint of unfairness and discrimination with the employment tribunal, under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

The Hairy Oyster has sympathetic backstory – she might have saved this for the pre-throat preamble: she’s a former nurse; she had cervical spine neuritis; it affected her ability to hear her own voice. Also, the backing track is too loud. She is not used to the official microphone.

Says Cowell:

“Emma, Emma, reality check here, it’s not the music; it’s not the microphone; it’s you.”

Czikai then appears on Britain’s Got More Talent.

“They knew at the time and they did all of that. I had an illness that affected me at the time and they knew that there was another broadcast that proved that I could sing. This story is the truth behind the joke. They made one big joke out of me they put it on the YouTube and sold it in 30 countries. The whole world is saying: ‘This stupid woman’s a laugh.'”

Well, she is not a laugh. She might be a great singer but she is not a stand-up comedian.

She says Britain’s Got Talent was her employer because “the auditions were a process of elimination in which candidates competed for short-term employment contracts for a road show.”

She adds:

“My health and wellbeing has been damaged I have been going downhill quite markedly this year… Simon Cowell has accrued for himself too much power. He’s getting more and more powerful and has too much control, just like Rupert Murdoch.”

The case goes on…
