President 2008: Rudy Giuliani Sox Barack Obama And John McCain
IT’S the flip flop to end all flip flops -if you’re a baseball fan in New York.
One of the city’s best-known Yankees fans, Rudy Giuliani, told a New Hampshire crowd yesterday that he’s supporting the hated Red Sox in the World Series.
This morning’s New York Daily News brands the former mayor a “TRAITOR” and the New York Post calls him a “YANKEE FLIPPER.”
The Boston Red Sox play the Colorado Rockies in the first game of the World Series tonight.
By chance, the Red Sox haven of New Hampshire is one of the first, and therefore most important, states to vote in the Presidential primaries.
By the New York Daily News’ calculation the combined value of all Red Sox supporting states, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and half of Connecticut, is worth 30 electoral college votes. Colorado has nine votes.
Giuliani, who is a regular at Yankees games and owner of four Yankees World Series rings, recently taunted Hillary Clinton for becoming a Yankees fan while “growing up in Chicago.” Now this.
“The man really must want the job,” says the Op-Ed page of the New York Post.
Meanwhile, Democratic hopeful Barack Obama told a Boston crowd last night that he was a White Sox fan: “You don’t want somebody who pretends to be a Red Sox fan as president of the United States. You want somebody who is a principled sports fan. Even when his team is losing, he still stands up for them.”
In other news: John McCain told workers at a small weapons factory in New Hampshire that he would follow Osama Bin Laden to the gates of hell and “shoot him with your products,” and a bleary-eyed Mitt Romney accidentally accused Barack Obama (not Osama) of “calling on radicals, jihadists of all different types, to come together in Iraq.”

Sidney is clearly trying to smear Barack by creating a false history for him that is intended to scare people.
Barack, who went by Barry during his childhood, was not brought up as a Muslim - not that there is anything inherently wrong with that. The school he attended has been visited by the media and was found to be completely non-secular. It was for the wealthy and the children of diplomats.
Barack’s mom married men she loved. Many people don’t exclude people to fall in love with based upon their religion. Sidney obviously feels that if you do fall for someone of a different religion you become MESMORIZED by their religion. She wasn’t just a mommy, she was a mummy. Ooooeeeiiii. No better time than Halloween for these stories.
By the way, Saddam Hussein isn’t the only person ever named Hussein. The late King Hussein of Jordan was a great leader who forged a peace agreement with Israel despite the danger. If people want to associate Barack Hussein Obama with someone, King Hussein is a good choice.
As for using his black ethnicity just at opportune times, I guess when he decided to work for civil rights in Chicago to fight for justice when he could have been cashing in his Harvard degree for big bucks and taking it easy he was just using his identity then too. Hey Sidney, you conservative racist, any chance he is what he is?
Interestingly though, at the end of your libelous statement, you did hit on one truth. If elected President, Barack Hussein Obama might well be able to reach out to the world and reduce the hatred toward America. By doing so, he would undermine the wellspring where terrorists are born. Electing Barack Obama could well do more for the safety of the U.S. than all the weapons and warfare we have used to date or are planning to use.

If more emails like Sidney’s are published, those people who never vote may read them and decide to vote for Obama just to give him a chance to make “change and hope” happen.

I used to get angry at politicians who act like voters are stupid, then I began to read comments like Sidney’s.

· Barack HUSSEIN Obama said (see a TV clip from New Hampshire campaign stop) that “Americans are not interested in presidential candidate’s middle name” when asked why he seems never using that.
Well, not only after 9-11, but at least since the first Gulf War, to have the very same (middle) name as especially in the US not so popular dictator, Saddam Hussein, doesn’t help, certainly not in gaining willing voters.
The fact is that Sen. Obama has much, much more of Muslim, Islam background than he would be eager to share at campaign stops and debates.
First: His late father (died in car accident) was a Muslim from Kenya. He also gave him Arabic names, i.e. the first, the middle and last name. Yes, linguistically Obama and Osama are from the same kernel. How much of Islamic culture, orientation, and religious belief his father gave him? Sen. Obama is not saying, how far he goes to honor all these fundamental aspects of his father of who he (and his eager supporters) normally pile up only praise of hard work and achievement. One can safely bet that his father being a Muslim, educated man, had a significant impact on Sen. Obama, even when it was as a reflection (as his mother, Kansas born American, divorced him when her son was 2 yrs old).
2) Profound Muslim and Islamic influences do not end with Sen. Obama’s Arabic names, where “Hussein” is not only Saddam’s but of a prominent Shia saint. His Mom, clearly strong influence on Sen. Obama, was so mesmerized by Islam and Muslim men that she re-married for another Muslim: and Indonesian student. Therefore, young Barack lived for several formative years in Jakarta, the capital city of the LARGEST Muslim country in the world, Indonesia. There he also attended madrassa, sorry, a school. Again, how much of influence his Muslim stepfather, his Islam favoring mother, his life and schooling in Indonesia with overburdening presence of Islam had? Uncharacteristically, normally very eloquent Sen. Obama keeps quiet.
Certainly he doesn’t show any “pride” in his Muslim, Islam background and heritage. Unlike Oprah or numerous African-American organizations and lobbies, as of yet no Muslim leaders or organizations appeal to him (at least not publicly) “NOT TO ACT WHITE”, but to act Muslim, i.e. true to his background. While he is careful to use his black ethnicity only when he calculates it might be advantageous, so far (anyway) he didn’t calculate that drawing attention to his Arabic names, his Muslim and Islamic upbringing, experience and background can be transformed into extra percents of vote preferences.
Maybe, our liberal friends and media spielers can help with the fact that Obama is indeed much much closer to Osama, than any Anglo-Saxon name of old, that he has so strong Muslim and Islamic background and experience, that it should qualify him to gain trust of our Islamic partners and even mortal adversaries. Maybe it might serve the US well having VO Obama appealing on Muslim world: “Why not we all get along?” With Muslim father, stepfather (sorry Islam doesn’t push women, here his Muslim-loving Mom ahead), his Hussein Obama names, his life and education experience from Muslim country, all this should help him to be effective. Right?
Maybe, with the right help from Madison Avenue and Hollywood, our media, voters can be convinced that not only the first (half) black VP but also the first Muslim-background one will lead the country in the right direction, will build trust in Muslim world, maybe even with Osama and – therefore – with his action-ready followers everywhere. So, maybe Sen. Obama should not hide and run away from his prominent Muslim and Islamic background, accentuate that his names are Arabic and that yes; he has Hussein as his middle name. Is he, the Democratic party missing a “historical milestone” here?
